Choosing a center for your child:

Choosing the right child care center for your child is a huge decision. The Ontario Ministry of Education has a very informative site that will help you navigate the sometimes daunting task of choosing a center that is right for you and your family.

The link below will take you to a page where you can search for licensed child care facilities, and you can search by city, by center name, and various other criteria. (Ages of children they care for, hours, etc.)

Licensed child care facilities are inspected annually by a Program Advisor from the Ministry of Education. The purpose of these unannounced visits is to ensure that a center is in compliance with the Child Care and Early years Act, which is the set of regulations that licensed child care centers must follow. Once you have chosen a center to look at, you will be able to see the 3 or 4 most recent licensing visits, and see if there were any non-compliances observed at the inspection visit. There is plenty of useful information to be found in a licensing visit result, and may help you narrow your search down more quickly.
